FAQ

Are blood tests required before treatment?

In accordance with the EU directive, the following infection screenings must be completed before fertility treatment can begin. This applies to both the woman and the man, unless donor sperm or frozen eggs are used.

Before starting treatment, you must have the following blood tests done by your own doctor or gynecologist:

  • P-HIV 1+2

  • P-HBsAg

  • P-Anti-HBc total

  • P-Anti-HCV

The tests must be no older than 24 months at the time of treatment.

It is your own responsibility to have these tests done in your home country, and the costs are not covered by the clinic.
The results must be sent to us as a written laboratory report before treatment can begin.

If you have any questions about the requirements, please feel free to contact us or book a free video consultation.

When in my cycle should I start the treatment?

A fertility treatment typically begins at the start of your period. Therefore, we always plan the start of treatment around your next expected menstrual bleeding.

You will need to have an ultrasound scan and have the necessary medication ready just before your period begins. The hormone treatment usually starts on the second day of bleeding.

It is important that you keep us informed about your cycle so we can adjust the treatment start and logistics accordingly.

How long do I need to stay in Denmark during the treatment?

You will need to be in Denmark for the egg retrieval and the embryo transfer.

Most patients stay in Denmark for 3 to 6 days. You should arrive the day before or on the morning of the egg retrieval. The embryo transfer is then scheduled 2–5 days later, depending on the development of the embryos.

The other parts of the treatment – such as scans and the start of hormone stimulation – can usually be done in your home country if you prefer.
